Description The monitoring engineer will be responsible for providingenterprise-wide monitoring services, basic to mid-level system and alerts troubleshootingand problem escalation management. The monitoring engineer will also provideresolution of system and application failures based on defined standardoperating procedures, as well on-going feedback of the application checks, andcoordination of internal resources for applying fixes to recurring alerts. Themonitoring engineer will be responsible to initiate processes for ongoingapplication performance monitoring and, management. All monitoring team members must actively monitor and test systemsto ensure availability and delivery of mailing services. Issues identified willbe resolved by the monitoring team when a defined process exists or escalatedwhen appropriate. This team will be a shift based team. Responsibilities : Responsible for the 24×7 uptime of the application. Responsible for troubleshooting system, application, database and networking issues. Acts as primary tier in alert response and follow up. Acts as primary tier in identifying production related incidents and issues. This includes detection of system, application, or performance degradation or unavailability. Tracks the resolution of any system or application problems reported through monitoring tools. Manages systems, database and application alerts to resolution. Escalates outage and other production interruptions to appropriate individuals/groups. Responsible for communicating and supporting incident resolution according to ITIL standard processes Ensures effective communication to other operational teams. Proactively report on current systems, database and application checks to improve its performance and notifications. Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Degree of college education in a technical career or BA/BS in technical discipline. +2 years operations support experience in a high-availability environment. Demonstrated experience working in a cross-functional team environment that includes Technical Support, Developers, SAs, DBAs, Systems administrators, etc. 1 – 2 years of experience of Windows/Linux/Unix production environments using command line, networking and security concepts. 1 – 2 years of experience of Sybase, Oracle and/or MS SQL experience Ability to perform well in fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Be proactive and willing to look for solutions on its own. Outstanding communication skills in English, both verbal and written and strong customer focus. Experience with NetworkOC tools incident including ticket systems- and monitoring systems and strong understanding of SLA’s. Experience with ITIL/ITIL Foundation certificate preferred. Ideal candidates should be able to write and read small scripts in, but not limited to: perl, bash, and python, SQL, PowerShell. Experience with system administration tasks on Linux or Windows environments is preferred. Experience and understanding of monitoring tools, such as Nagios, is desired.
